Union Church Cemetery Restoration Project

Volunteers began in July 2022 to clean up the gated entry and old section of the St. Paul's Church cemetery on West Main Street, Fleetwood. The goal is to finish in time for Fleetwood's 150th anniversary celebration in spring 2023.

Team members include this congregation and our sister church, St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran. So far, they restored the iron gate and railings as well as 500 gravestones. Visitors can once again read the German script on these 1800s stones.

We only need sand and small stones to finish the project.

Ways to help now

1.  Volunteer some time and energy. We'll be using shovels, rakes, work gloves, tampers, garden hand tools, wheelbarrows, and small tarps to straighten crooked stones.

2.  Donate toward sand and small stones, which will form drainage fields for the straightened stones. Write "Union Cemetery" on the memo line of your check and send it to the church (address at bottom of this page). Or fill out the online Donation form and then contact the church office to specify this mission.

Contact Carol Aulenbach through the church office to volunteer. Thank you for helping to see this ambitious project to a beautiful conclusion!
